Companies

A company is the main entity of the platform. Products, competitors and intents live inside it, and all analytics revolve around it. This guide covers: what a company is, what fields it has, how to create one manually and via AI.

What a company is

A company is the monitoring object in brandfound. Everything you want to track in AI responses (brand reputation, products, mentions) is attached to it.

A company has three kinds of child entities:

  • Product. a specific service, item or line within the brand portfolio. For a bank it can be cards, loans, investment products; for an IT company - individual apps; for a retailer - catalog categories.
  • Competitor. another brand or product you want to compare yourself against in AI responses.
  • Intent. a search intent or phrase (best bank for business, delivery in 30 minutes) used to auto-generate queries.

Company fields

Basic fields are filled at creation. Required ones are marked with an asterisk.

Why synonyms matter

In AI responses the same brand can appear in different forms. For Sber that's «Sber», «Sberbank», «green bank». If synonyms aren't set, only exact name matches will count, and part of the mentions will be missed.

Don't put URLs or domains here

Synonyms are words and phrases, not links. The domain goes in the Website field. Extra URLs in synonyms reduce detection accuracy.

Good synonym examples:

  • Sber: Sberbank, green bank, Sberbank Russia
  • Samsung: Samsung Electronics, SMSN, Samsung Mobile
  • Yandex Taxi: Y.Taxi, Yandex Go

Regional settings

Regional settings define the language and geography of auto-generated queries.

  • Query language: the language the AI will phrase its questions in. Defaults to Russian.
  • Countries: list of monitored countries. Multi-select. Defaults to Russia.
  • Cities: optional, for finer local context (Moscow, Saint Petersburg).

The first selected country is treated as primary. Locale (e.g. ru-RU) is computed from it.

Option 1. Create manually

The hands-on path when you want to control every field. Good if you know your brand and audience well.

Steps

  1. Click Create company on /companies.
  2. Fill in name, website, category.
  3. Describe the brand (1-2 paragraphs) and add 3-5 synonyms.
  4. Open the Regional tab, set the language and countries.
  5. Click Save. The company is created and appears in the list.

What's next

After creation you land on the company page. Three tabs appear: Products, Competitors, Intents. In each, you can add items one by one with + or many at once via AI.

Option 2. AI Generate structure

When you need to launch monitoring fast, use AI generation. The platform picks products, competitors and intents based on your description.

How to launch

  1. Fill in the company name and website.
  2. Optionally, in AI hint specify exactly what you want (e.g. add e-commerce competitors, not banks).
  3. Click Generate structure. In 20-60 seconds a preview opens.

Preview window

AI returns a tree: company, products, competitors and intents. Each item has a checkbox. You can:

  • Uncheck what you don't want: it won't be saved.
  • Click + next to any level to add your own item manually.
  • Edit names and descriptions before saving.

When the tree looks right, click Save. The company is created and the selected structure is loaded.

What happens after creation

After saving a company (manual or via Generate structure), a Company created! dialog opens with three actions.

Available actions

  • Enable auto-generation. The primary action. Auto-generation turns on for the company, and the system starts producing synthetic queries based on its structure (products, competitors, intents) and dispatching them to the configured AI providers.
  • Add manually. Opens Queries → Create queries, where you type your own wording and pick providers point-by-point.
  • Close. Just closes the dialog. The company exists, auto-generation is off, no quota is spent. You can enable it later from the companies table via the Auto-generation toggle.
Auto-generation toggle in the /companies table - Auto-generation column. You can switch it on or off at any time without opening the company itself.

Enabling auto-generation consumes plan quota

Synthetic queries consume the daily and monthly quota of your plan. If you don't want to spend quota right now - click Close and enable auto-generation later when you're ready.

Plan limits

The number of companies per account depends on your plan. When the limit is reached, the system will suggest upgrading.
